The Roland's Statue at City Hall Square, Riga
I have just realized I have a thing for cards with statues. The first card I loved with this theme was of Michele's. The second one is from Laura (teriine in the forums) in Riga for February RR 2010. Laura was so kind to give info about the card and here it is: "Originally the statue was made as decor from city artesian well. As there wan an opinion that Knight Roland's statue symbolizes freedom of town, citizens donated money for making this statue. Till World War II, the statue was counted as geographical center of the city. After the war, the statue was dismantled and placed in the museum. What we see on the card is a replica and was made in 2000."
